My Heart is Broken
Hello DBP Family,
My heart is very heavy as I mourn the loss of a good friend and mentor - David Thompson.
David suffered a massive stroke last Saturday, August 7th and passed away on Wednesday, August 11th. He was surrounded by his wife Winona, his mother and many family members as he transititioned. David continued to give of himself even in death by being an organ donor.
David Thompson was instrumental in helping me develop the DenverBlackPages.com and the Mountain Region Black Economic Summit. In the early stages of DBP, he introduced me to the right people and he guided me through the Denver community landscape. I had a sense of peace knowing that I had one of Denver’s brightest business minds in my corner.
I thought I had more time to tell him just how much I appreciate and love him, but it was not to be.
Although I will sorely miss him, I find comfort in knowing that my brother is with the Lord.
Funeral services for David Thompson will be held Saturday, August 14th starting at 3PM at Colorado Christian Fellowship (Iliff & Havana). David will lie in state from 2-3pm at the church.

Hotel Key Cards
From a Reader
Ever wonder what is on your magnetic key card?
Answer:
a. Customer's name
B. Customer's partial home address
c. Hotel room number
d. Check-in date and out dates
e. Customer's credit card number and expiration date!
When you turn them in to the front desk your personal information is
there for any employee to access by simply scanning the card in the hotel scanner.. An employee can take a hand full of cards home and using a scanning device, access the information onto a laptop computer and go shopping at your expense.
Simply put, hotels do not erase the information on these cards until an employee reissues the card to the next hotel guest. At that time, the new guest's information is electronically 'overwritten' on the card and the previous guest's information is erased in the overwriting process. But until the card is rewritten for the next guest, it usually is kept in
a drawer at the front desk with YOUR INFORMATION ON IT!
The bottom line is: Keep the cards, take them home with you, or destroy them. NEVER leave them behind in the room or room wastebasket, and NEVER turn them into the front desk when you check out of a room. They will not charge you for the card (it's illegal) and you'll be sure you are not leaving a lot of valuable personal information on it that could be easily lifted off with any simple scanning device card reader.
If you have a small magnet, pass it across the magnetic strip several times. Then try it in the door, it will not work. It erases everything on the
card. (I would do it in the car on the way to the airport, in case I lose it some how and still take it home and destroy it)
if you arrive at the airport and discover you still have the card key in your pocket, do not toss it in an airport trash basket. Take it home and destroy it by cutting it up, especially through the electronic information strip!
Hello Health!

Headaches have many causes and can impact memory, concentration, and mental stamina. Headaches may even be a function of an effective detox process! Not all headaches are created equal thus resolving them requires thoughtful intervention.
Just as some headaches can be fast acting, others develop over time. Headaches can be a result of bone structural issues and a chiropractor can help. Other sources include: chlorine; prolonged dehydration, various laundry/household cleaning products including bleach; fluoride; excess salt or refined sugars; chemicals in beauty salons vis-à-vis hair treatments, manicures, and pedicures; pharmaceutical medications—especially taking multiple meds; artificial food colors and flavors; petroleum based products; many sun screens, body lotions, antibacterial soaps, too much caffeine, odor sprays, and some cosmetics; and even waste that sits in the gut too long and is partially reabsorbed into the body.
An overwhelmed body cannot effectively rid itself of toxic overload. Toxicity can negatively impact brain neural functioning and neurotransmitter activity. These, in turn, affect thinking, which, of course, affects mood since moods are attached to thoughts and perception. Treating headaches by pain relievers alone may be inadequate. Identifying and correcting the source of the problem is key. Often times, lifestyle change is an excellent first step.
